Triple rosacea cream contains 3 active pharmaceutical ingredients: azelaic acid, which has antioxidant and anti-microbial properties, ivermectin, a topical anti-parasitic that decreases inflammation, and metronidazole, a topical antibiotic, with anti-inflammatory properties. Providers often prescribe these three medications together to reduce the inflammatory lesions and redness associated with rosacea.

How Do You Apply It?

Before applying the triple rosacea cream on your skin, make sure that the area you are applying it to is clean and dry. To do this, wash your skin thoroughly with a non-irritating cleanser before application, and make sure to dry the area completely.

After making sure that the skin is completely clean and dry, apply thin layer of the cream onto your fingertips. Then, rub a light amount of it onto the affected areas. Continue until the cream is rubbed in completely. Take caution to avoiding the eyes, lips, nose, and mouth.  Once you are done, make sure to wash off the remaining cream off of your hands to avoid getting it on any unaffected areas.

A common mistake that some patients make when applying triple rosacea cream is that they only apply it to the pimples and lesions. It is recommended to apply the cream to all areas affected by the rosacea, not just the pimples and lesions. This ensures that the treatment works to it’s full effectiveness.

Treatment Process

With daily use of triple rosacea cream, patients often see noticeable changes within 1 to 2 months. Because some of the effects of the cream are temporary, you have to continue to apply the cream on a regular and consistent schedule to maintain those improvements on the skin.

The treatment length varies depending on the severity of the condition as well as symptoms. Treatment typically lasts 6-8 weeks, at which time your doctor may follow up with you to see how the treatment is progressing.

Common Side Effects

The most common side effects of triple rosacea cream are mild skin irritation, itching, burning, stinging, and redness. These symptoms should improve as you continue your treatment. There are some cases where symptoms may continue in which case your doctor may reduce the recommended amount of cream you apply, or to stop treatment altogether. You may wish to start out using this product every other day or even every third day and slowly build up to daily use as tolerated. Make sure to apply the medication at the same time everyday to maintain a regular and consistent schedule.
